Korea: Monster Cupcakes

When you meet the right person, everyday is Valentine; When you are in Monster Cupcake, everyday is Halloween! All the designs of the cupcakes are inspired by classic horror movies: Chucky? Ghost Buster? Night before Christmas? Sesame Street? It will certainly bring back all the nightmares you had as a kid, but this time, with a sweet tone!

Will I recommend it? Yes
Reason: They sure look horrible, topping with all things gory and grotesque … but they actually taste nice. There are a decent variety of cupcakes, all very eye-catching, one of a kind and decorated with passion. I have to praise the owner’s effort. Seriously, icing cupcake is not an easy task. The cupcakes are moist, fluffy, very well flavoured and not too grossly sweet like some other cupcakes around the area. The perfect combination of sweet and tangy, it does not make you feel bad for eating too many cupcakes.

About the space: It is a perfect spot for two to enjoy, not a big group. The place is quite tiny, there are only 2 tables. If you come in a big group, be prepared to ask for your cupcakes to go. Do not worry about de-fluff, because the long container bag they give you for take away is excellent.

I actually stumbled accross this little hidden gem after getting lost in Itaewon area. I’ve walked quite a long way and decided to rest my feet. This shop appeared at the right time just around the corner so I decided to give it a go.

Prices range: from 4,500-5,000 W for cupcakes
                                4500-6500 W for drinks
They have a loyalty card but since I was just travelling I do not need that.
